Here are Jess and I, all dolled up at our friend Lisa's wedding in Seattle. In the interest of wearing all the new stuff I bought in New York as quickly and as much as possible, I swapped the dress I brought with me to wear for this one, from the All Saints store in Chelsea. Jess looked fabulous in her 50's style wiggle dress, and I'm crazy about that burgundy Coach bag of hers. It's an evening bag, but it actually has room to hold stuff, unlike those pointless, tiny clutches that can barely hold your lipstick and some cash, let alone a camera. I ended up bringing a regular full sized bag, I got so frustrated trying to jam all my crap into my evening bag.
I also wore my new Helmut Lang jacket, since it was cold that evening. Looking at it now I feel like I could easily make this dress/blazer combo into a daytime outfit if I combined it with nude legs and something more casual than satin shoes.
Dress: All Saints
Blazer: Helmut Lang
Shoes: Steve Madden

That dress looks amazing on you and Jess looks fabulous too. She has awesome shoes.
Pretty ladies!
I love that dress! I hadn't heard of All Saints until I read your blog, now I think I may have to investigate! Is there a SF location?
Ravina Sniper: Why yes, All Saints just opened a store on Geary near Union Square. Be warned, shopping there can be habit-forming!
How could THOSE shoes demolish multiple pairs of tights & whatnot? They look so...unassuming and comfy.
You are smokin' hot in that All Saints dress!
If you love these shoes, there may be a solution. In France, we have these very very short nylon socks that are so small they completely hide inside the shoe. I guess you will find them in the US also. If you can get a pair, it may provide enough cushioning to protect your tights and save these Madden, which look good on you.
Miss Eliza Wharton: True, and I have in fact tried those socks and have successfully gotten through an evening without running my tights. But the underlying problem with these shoes is that they force my toes down into the end of the shoe, so even with the socks I can't entirely trust that they won't inflict their damage if I wear them long enough. But not to worry, I've used them well, and anyway I have a FAR more fabulous replacement pair speeding its way to me as I type. :-)
What size are those mary-janes?
The Nightmare Child: They are 8.5's.
Poo.
Too small. >_<
You know I love me some All Saints! And the Helmut Lang blazer is great. Asymmetry -- always chic!
