I should also point out that I bought this shirt specifically because it combines eye-catching details with a comfortable, relaxed design. It cost more than I would typically pay for a long-sleeved t-shirt, but it's one of those interesting basics that makes it a snap to put together outfits that are both casual and unique. I also have plenty of basics that are truly basic, but I try to spice up my wardrobe with pieces like this when I come across them (All Saints is one of my go-to retailers for interesting basics), because when I'm pressed for time or don't want to think too hard about my outfit, they make the perfect building blocks.

really cute— I love it. 'specially the shoes.
I think I've said it before but I was obsessed with purple and red together for about a year in high school. I still love it.
The details are really what make this. I love the shirt!
Red and purple is a great combo!
Oooh noms. A smartly done red and purple! Also, excellent point about shirts with details!
(soapbox, please...) i can't agree enough with your strategy here. having a few 'interesting basics' makes outfit creation so much easier and faster. we don't always have the time and energy to ponder 'what to wear today?'
but if you put that time and energy into planning what to let into your wardrobe, you can solve a lot of problems up front and save tons of time and aggravation on 'those days'.
beautiful colors in this outfit, and so nice for this time of year! steph
love the scarf and shoes! Can you do a quick tutorial on how you tied your scarf? The video one you did last year is starred in my google reader, and I use those tie-ing ways a lot.
A: I actually used the same method I posted in the video (the first one), only I did one wrap around my neck instead of two.
Always jealous of how awesome you look in jeans. The red and purple is a great combo, the scarf definitely adds a lot to this outfit.
