I bought this dress a couple weeks ago from eShakti after I decided that I needed more mustard yellow in my closet. One of the things I really like about eShakti is the rational hem lengths; most everywhere else it seems that the only option besides scandalously short is a maxi dress. The current assortment of offerings includes several styles like this one; full skirted, modest length (which is also customizable), with vintage styling. I admit I was a little skeptical of ordering a dress of this style in jersey, because typically a full pleated skirt requires a stiffer fabric to help maintain its shape. Not only that, but jersey can be extremely unforgiving, revealing every seam of your underwear and showing lumps and bulges on your body that you didn't even know existed.
In case you missed the post, I've got a coupon code for you to use this month at eShakti; see the 'Special Offers' box over to the right in the sidebar.

Gorgeous color, and I really like how you've styled with the b&w.
that's a really beautiful silhouette on you. the color with b&w accent is a great bonus! steph
DUDE!!! You and I think exactly alike! I got this dress in gray and wore it yesterday and posted it today. Love how you rock the yellow.
Doggies love a good sun bath.
I also just ordered that same dress in grey and am waiting for it to arrive right now. Looks great on you.

Gosh I love that color. So fresh and lovely. You made my day.

You look fabulous! Like a beam of sunshine.... that seems like the perfect Autumn/Winter outfit: when the skies are getting a bit too grey and so is your wardrobe, kick up the color some!
That's a fantastic outfit, and you look fantastic in it (of course). Hopefully this will encourage more yellow-dominant clothes; I feel as if yellow is the "forgotten" color.
SO true. I love having some measure of control over hem length.
I want to order a skirt but am debating over the hem. Is your dress knee length or below the knee?
Thanks!
Love your dress, tulle skirt (I must get one) and your cardigan. Looking good.
Don't miss my first giveaway
I love your Georgie pictures too! She is so funny with her expressions (glad to know my Pittie is not the only one with a rubber face...)
Love this! Any recommendations on where to find tulle underskirts? I would love to find on that's a decent length!
the weather is awful and I need yellow dress too!!, really optimistic look
I have been in love with marigold yellow lately. It looks fabulous on you - love the structure of the dress.
Aw, Georgie is so cute.
I love that you paired that cardigan with the dress, it does well to berak up that expanse of one color, and adds a modern twist to a very '50's-like dress.
Anonymous: I ordered it as knee length, but it actually hits me just below the knee (I'm 5'8"). So I'd say the hem lengths are pretty generous and knee length or even above the knee is still going to be quite a modest length.
whitneybee: Hmm, that's a tough one. All mine have come from Noa Noa, which is hard to find in the US. You might try searching for tulle skirts on Etsy; I know there are a few sellers who work with tulle, and could possibly make something custom if they don't already stock it. Either that or look for Noa Noa tulle on eBay.
I'm seeing a lot of variations on yellow and orange right now, and I've come to the conclusion that no one looks "meh" in either color. They either look awesome (for example: you), or they make the wearer look jaundiced (hello, that would be me). I'm thinking if I want any yellow or orange in my wardrobe at all, they need to be on the lower half of my body. Hmmm. Orange shoes, anyone?
Fawn: I agree with you on yellow, it's a tough hue for some complexions. However, I think orange can look great on anyone, provided they find the right shade for their skin tone. Bright orange might not be the way to go, but a rusty, brownish-orange might work, for instance. And for sure the easiest way to use any less-than-flattering shade is to keep it away from your face, so shoes, skirts, and tights are all great options.
Thank Audi! I just did a quick etsy search and think I found a tulle underskirt that might work!
