This dress was custom made for me a couple of years ago by Revamp Vintage, who create gorgeous vintage reproductions. I actually had it made specifically to wear to the San Francisco
The wedding was a welcome opportunity to wear this sorely underutilized dress. Quite honestly, it's not cut out for wearing to work because it's made of silk and has ZERO stretch, so after long hours of sitting and possibly a big lunch, it has the potential to get mighty uncomfortable. Thus, this one is reserved for a few hours' wear at special occasions, which is fine because its classic styling means that I can wear it for many years to come. Paired with these retro-styled mary janes, my grandmother's pearls, and a hat based on the ones Judi Dench

What a gorgeous look on you, Audi! I agree that far too few women (and men!) wear hats these days. I have been itching for a wedding or some fabulous occasion to pull out some of my hats.
My L has a bowler too - love it.
I adore this dress. Wow, it just is amazing. You look beautiful.
It is interesting you talk about hats - there was a programme with Joan Collins on the other night and she asked three women to wear hats for a day. It made a huge difference for two of them.
What a swell couple you make!
my coworker said you look very french, there, my dear. i say it's adorable! xoxo
That *is* a gorgeous dress, I'm glad you had a chance to wear it!
And as an aside that I hope does not come across as scary internet stalking; was this Sam and Liz's wedding? I mean, I'm sure there were many SF weddings this weekend, so it may well be a coincidence, but the outfit would have been so perfect for their event. :)
Oh, what a gorgeous, gorgeous dress! And such fine millinery.
SWOOOOON! That dress is beyond amazing, and I'm equally enamored of the hat.
Both hts are so fab, I've been working on a hat post for my etsy wishes. :)
Love this outfit! The dress and the hat are fabulous!
Sarah: Haha, no, it was a different wedding. They picked a perfect day for it.
your hats are just stunning! i've never worn one-- it certainly has fallen out of fashion, but i think you will be partially responsible for a comeback ;)
This style ain't for nerds. Honestly, you look good on this dress and I love your hat.
Oh, adore this 1940s look. You look fabulous.
Love the hats, you are a talented hat maker and wear them well.
What is a Monroe piercing?
I love you retro dress too. It's perfect for a day wedding.
I check your blog everyday. I adore your creative style.
Anonymous: A monroe piercing is one that's off-center and above the upper lip, i.e., where Marilyn Monroe's beauty mark was.
