Details

I used to always assume that short boots shouldn't be worn with dresses because they can make the legs appear shorter. However, short boots have been so ubiquitous the past few seasons that I've gotten used to the look. I also realized something very important: I don't give a damn if my legs do look shorter. In fact, I quite admire the look of short, sturdy legs on other ladies, and it's not like I'm going to apply for a runway modeling gig anytime soon.

For this outfit I kept it simple and let the dress and boots be the focal points. There's a lot of interesting detailing on both, but they can get lost in all the black if there's too much else to distract the eye. I love wearing items like these in the daytime, when the lighting is ideal for picking up subtle details.

Dress: Escada Sport
Boots: See by Chloe
Bracelet, rings: Metal Pointu's (Paris)

I love ankle boots. I don't mind the 'shortening' effect, I actually prefer it on myself because it gives a little more curve to my thin legs. I think you look fabulous in your dress and boots. The heel also keeps you looking proportional. Rock on, Audi!

Fabulous dress, snazzy boots. I could look at this dress for quite a while: it has real visual interest. As an article of clothing, it expresses your sophisticated sense of fashion and eclectic personality.

Those details are really beautiful, and keeping things simple to show them off is really effective. You look awesome!

Hear, hear for not giving a damn from this short-and-sturdy-legged dame!

Lovely dress and I like the unexpected look of the boots.

You seem to have more tattoos! Lower right leg...at the knee on the left leg? Are we going to see? :)

Sheila: It's not new, it just doesn't get seen very often because it's usually too cold here for bare legs. Here's what it looks like close up: http://geekthreads.blogspot.com/2009/04/memento-mori-redux.html
