Dubious

I hope all my friends here in the States had a fun Labor Day weekend. It was a little bittersweet knowing that the man was burning and we weren't there, but I had a great weekend nonetheless. I spent the last few days up in rural Oregon with my family, where we were joined by Jess as well as her mom. The weather was gorgeous, and we had a lot of laughs and drank a lot of wine. A few days in the country is definitely a lot more relaxing than Burning Man, that's for sure.

This outfit was my first attempt at wearing these flats with tights. Not being a flats sort of gal, I wasn't even sure if they could be worn this way. I think the outfit turned out alright overall, but I'm still a bit dubious about the tights/flats combo. It felt a little strange somehow, I think because I'm not used to seeing so much of the tights pattern stretched out horizontally; with heels, the tights make a longer, straighter line when I look down at my feet.

What do you think? Do you wear flats with hosiery?

I think your outfit looks great! I understand the tights w/flats issue though. I do wear tights with flats, but I usually go for a monochromatic look. Actually, I think my personal tights/flats problem is feeling like a little girl when wearing white tights--so I don't! ~ Peggy

I've never been to Burning Man, but I spent Monday night having chicken and waffles with, among other people, a friend who'd just gotten back. Her tales regaled us for a good portion of the evening.

I think you look just fine in tights and flats--I do it all the time, mostly because I have a hard time with heels. It can be weird transitioning from one commonly-worn kind of garment to another, though. I know every time I wear heels I have to stop and look at myself and think, "is this right? Is this okay?" just because it's different.

By the way, this outfit is great! Just throwing that out there. You have such an amazing eye for garment combinations that look classy and unusual and high-end. Right on!

I think you look fantastic! The monochrome palette with that gorgeous ocean-y skirt is to die for, really!

tights+flats looks great on you!
i wear tights with flats all the time, i pretty much only wear flats anyway. it just depends what your eye is used to, i suppose.
i love the long vertical line created by your top's buttons, which widens to a double button line at the skirt, and expands into the horizontal striping of the tights - perfect!

I have to say that I wear tights and flats together all the time. As a teacher, I'm expected to dress nice-most of the time, anyway, thanks to casual Fridays. However, a good teacher never sits down when students are in the room, so wearing heels eventually kills my feet. To fix this, I wear flats or nice tie-up shoes.

Considering 99% of my shoes were flats until recently and 80% of my winter legwear involves tights, I am definitely a flats/tights kinda gal. I think they look great on you.

By the way, that skirt! Those buttons! It's amazing.

Audi, that skirt is so gorgeous, love it. I regularly wear flats with tights, and I like the look, but hey, I'm no fashion goddess -- I just have fussy hooves : >

I occasionally wear tights and flats, but like you, I'm always a little unsure of the combo. It never looks quite right to me. Like you say, it could just be because it's not my normal look and I'm not used to it. I think it looks fine on other people.

What a cute caplet jacket. I think the tights look alright. I probably wouldn't have thought twice about the flats. I do think flats can shorten a leg line/flatten the way feet look, but who says we need to always shoot for the longest legs? I think you look cute.

I wouldn't say no to a good lazy vacation in the country. Sounds quite lovely! Hope you had a great time.

Absolutely wear tights with flats! A girl can't wear heels all the time. :)I love that capelet - it is just so cute especially with the striped sleeves. :)

Those tights and flats look absolutely fine. I think as you said, it's just that it's a look you're not used to seeing on yourself. I definitely wear flats with tights, and I will be doing so again this fall.

I actually have a pair of tights very similar to yours and I've worn them with my flat oxfords several times. Looks good to my eye! Love the colour of the skirt, by the way!

I've never been to Burning Man... and have probably won't make it. *sigh* Its sounds like fun.

I generally wear tights with flats, but keep them the same color to lengthen the line.

I rarely wear really flat flats; most of mine have a small kitten heel or a low wedge. But yeah, I do wear tights with them. I tend to more solid colours, though, as patterns (especially texture patterns, like stripes) do that sort of hockey stick dog-leg. I don't mind an overall pattern (like a floral or plaid) with flats.

Some friends of mine were at Burning Man this year, how I wish to go someday.

I think the flats look more than fine with the tights! I wear flats with hosiery all the time in winter, I have to. You'll get used to it over time.
