As Good as it Gets

I've never been too crazy about flats, but I've realized that there's a time and place for them, such as a day you know you're going to be criss-crossing the campus all day (yes, my workplace is so large that we call it a campus) and your feet just need a break. So recently I went digging around on 6pm.com in search of a black or gray pair (because despite recognizing the need for flats I still wasn't willing to spend much money on them), and I turned up these. They're reasonably cute, they were deeply discounted, and they feel like walking on little pillows. They don't knock my socks off (no pun intended) aesthetically, but then again very few pairs of flats do, so I feel like this is about as good as it gets for me and flats. I like them, or rather, I like the feel of wearing them enough that I can put up with the ho-hum look of them.

Dress: Desigual
Necklace: can't remember
Shoes: Born

I bought a pair of gold flats (aged or matte finish, not bright & shiny) & have found them very versatile & a little more fun than my black ones. They have a subtle leather flower at the toe.

I'm going to have to find a desigual garment. Lovin' yours here & the ones on sheilasephemera.

I am not big on flats either. I only have a couple of truly flat shoes, and one of them is recently bought black flats. I got rid of my beat up ones at the end of summer last year and haven't missed them until I came across a pair for $2.50.

Sometimes simple shoes work for busy pieces like that crazy awesome Desigual dress. Those pieces are always busy, but interesting enough to keep your eye moving through it - like a great piece of art. I love the bright pink cami and turquoise colored necklace paired with it.

Wear this dress, and NO ONE will even look at your feet. It's fabulous.

Damn, that dress is FINE! I just LOVE it! I saw that Sal on Already Pretty had a lovely one as well. The necklace is gorgeous as well.
Loving this outfit.

*goes off to google Desigual*

Oh yay - a new shoe source! I've added to my faves.

The dress is quite beautiful.

Your attitude toward flats bears a striking resemblance to my attitude - toward heels. I loathe wearing heels, but I will do it on an occasion that calls for it if I can find a cheap pair that's comfortable enough. Then again, I'm not nearly as stylish as you. I'm sort of like Fashion for Nerds without the fashion. So you can take it with a grain of salt if you'd like, but I think those flats look really cute with that dress.

Yay, Audi came over to the Flat side today! I love my flats and my low heels, and I envy you your ability to rock the high ones. The dress is wow-gorgeous.

Just discovered 6pm.com in the spring and it's may favorite for getting shoes. Before ordering, I search high and low and have NEVER found a site cheaper than 6pm.

I'm also not a fan of flats, but I've been working to find some good summery ones that aren't too boring. I have big feet (9-10) so most true flats end up looking like I have giant boats on. I usually end up with kitten heels, which I find much more comfortable than a real flat, and give my arches a bit of support (thank you, Dr. Scholls).

You know I love the Desigual look - swoon! This is such a beautiful dress, Audi!

I am admiring the dress and musing that you don't actually need a shoe that might compete with the dress. I like this look.

Megan Mae, STAshworth and Terri: You're all absolutely right -- the dress is interesting enough on its own, and doesn't need any competition from the shoes. I hadn't really even thought of that!

No kidding--all I can do is echo what everyone else said, you could wear cardboard boxes on your feet and would still look fab in that dress.

I recently got a pair of Tory Burch flats on a good discount at Neimans and I LOVE them--so comfortable and the quality is great--the price was still high even on sale but you might want to try them--now I want all sorts of 'luxury' flats..
