Resolution

In the last weeks of the year I decided to get a jump start on my New Year's resolution to drive less, and not knowing exactly how far I'd end up walking or how long I'd be standing and waiting for public transportation (I hadn't yet tried taking public transportation to work from the new house), I decided I should make my outfits as comfortable as possible while I was still getting used to the new system. I'm not the sort of gal who will put on sneakers with a work outfit and change at the office; no way. So if you look at the last few outfits you'll see two of my favorite pairs of walking shoes -- these boots as well as my brown Batas -- and plenty of soft, flowy knit fabrics.

Now that I've done it a few times, I've realized that taking public transportation to work is actually quite easy from the new place. Not only that, but I arrive at work far less crabby than I do if I have to suffer through the traffic on the freeway. This might just be a resolution I can stick to.

Cardigan: BB Dakota
Gray skirt (hiked up and worn as a dress): S
Teal skirt: LA Made
Belt: Red Dress Shoppe
Boots: Modern Vintage

Audi, the soft layers in soft jewel tones just screams comfortable at me. I'm sure that helped bunches in the public transportation test. And of course you look great.

I love that you're layering skirts, and using that one skirt as a dress. Who says an item can only have one use! :)

One of the things I miss the most about living in San Francisco is the ability to get just about anywhere using public transportation. I owned many pairs of Borns and Danskos just to be able to be a car-less inhabitant of the city.

Agree with you on both points - I won't wear sneakers with my work outfits, and taking public transit is far less stressful for me than driving.

What great news! I envy you your public transport system, as you know.

And I have to remember that jersey skirts layer just as well as silk. These two look great together.

That's awesome - as someone who doesn't drive (I don't even have a license), I'm all for public transportation or walking (if possible).

That maroon sweater looks so cosy.

Love the rich colours and the jersey layers. What on earth did we wear before jersey (corsets, probably - wouldn't like to commute in those!).

Oh yes, I love using mass transit to get work. I have time to think, read, listen to podcasts. I always feel ready for the day.
Love your layering of dresses and skirts.

I do a fair amount of commuting by public transit--bus, train, subway... I'm also not one to wear sneakers for the commute. So I try to find shoes that are both attractive and comfortable. Your commuting outfit looks perfectly comfy and cute to me.
