Shabby

I wasn't too happy with this outfit. I wanted to wear a bright shade of green with this blue dress, and the skirt was really the best option I could come up with. It looked fine to me at first, but each time I caught my reflection I liked the proportions less and less. Part of the problem was that it was too warm for tights and heels, which would've been less leg-shortening than leggings.

The other problem is that the fabric of the dress is starting to look a bit shabby and worn out, and the seams don't quite press out flat anymore when I iron it. For a $15 dress it has served me well, but I think it's finally time to bid this old friend adieu. I've worn this dress well over a dozen times; below are a few of my favorite ways I've styled it.

Dress: Forever 21
Belt: Red Dress Shoppe
Skirt: thrifted
Leggings: Foot Traffic
Shoes: Bobbi Blu

I do love seeing the different ways you have worn this same item. Makes clear your creativity, really.

Could you have worn the dress + skirt without the leggings? Too bad the dress has worn out! And I've had the same experience wearing a favorite item one two many times & suddenly feeling shabby.

Where is the vqvqspub? (word verification)

Soooo guess what happened. After your customer service post, and my comment, I actually went to the McDonald's website and filled out the comment form to tell them about the great service I received at the drive-thru. Boy I sure had to jump thru a lot of hoops to do that! No anon comments, couldn't just give an email, nope, I had to give my name, address, phone, and identify the SPECIFIC restaurant and SPECIFIC time and date. *whew!* But I did it and forgot about it.

Well yesterday I got an email from McDonalds saying in part:

"Thank you for taking the time to share your complimentary comments with us. It's a rare person who takes the time to compliment. Thank you for being that person!...

I have shared your nice comments with the franchise owner and restaurant team of the McDonald's you mentioned. I know they'll appreciate the time you took to share your comments with us."

Today I checked my vm and the owner of that McDonalds and another one down the street I've also visited CALLED ME. He called me and thanked me for the message. He told me he had it blown up to POSTER SIZE and put in the crew break room at both his locations. He gave me his personal cell and invited me to call him back if I wanted to speak with him.

So now, if I get any CRAP from either location (not that I ever have) I have the owner's personal phone number LOL

meadow walk - good for you! how nice to put out all that effort and have it make a difference, esp. to the folks on the front lines.

bummer about the dress wearing out so quickly. that's one of the reasons i sew my own - thru trial and (mostly!) error you can make things that last a lot longer. and i'm hard on clothes. i don't have a budget where i can do a $1 CPW, so....but you did get a lot of fun, cute looks out of it while it lasted!

It is a real shame that the dress is getting shabby- I adore that color.

I agree about the green skirt and tights- I don"t like that shade of green with that pretty blue, and didn't like the proportions....

But I adored that pretty yellow necklace. Maybe some bright tights and/or shoes would be better?

Okay, I already knew you were super-creative but thanks for that little gallery of what you've done with that blue dress. So so creative! I also like to wear things one last time if I'm thinking of parting with them. (Sometimes I even decide not to get rid of it!)

I'm sorry you're going to have to retire this lovely dress. It is the perfect shade of blue and has been SO versatile!

P.S. I don't mind the look of the leggings instead of tights. I think it looks cute.

Meadow Walk, I'm so glad you did that - so many people who do a good job in the service industry never get acknowledged. That makes me so happy. :)

Audi, sad to see the dress go...but man, did you ever get your money's worth out of it! Brava!
